Green Your Halloween at the 2nd Annual Pumpkin Smash! Don’t toss your pumpkins in the trash—smash them for a cause! Join us at the Rec Center parking lot for a fun, eco-friendly event where you can smash your carved or uncarved pumpkins and gourds using a variety of smashing tools. This annual event helps keep pumpkins out of landfills by turning them into nutrient-rich compost. Thanks to the support of GROOT and help from the Boy Scouts, all smashed pumpkins will be collected and transported for composting. Every participant is entered into a raffle for fun prizes! Let’s have a smashing good time while doing something great for the planet!

Thanksgiving Turkey Coloring Contest

Cost: Free

Grab your crayons, colored pencils, or markers and let your imagination shine! We're hosting a fun coloring contest for kids ages 2 to 10, with categories for 2–4 years, 5–7 years, and 8–10 years. Every masterpiece will be proudly displayed at the Rec Center! Entries are due by Friday, November 21st. Need another coloring page? Extra copies will be available starting November 3rd at the Rec Center and online here. We can’t wait to see your colorful creations!

Pizza With Santa

Santa Claus is Coming to town…more specifically Pleasant Dale Park District. Join us for a party with Santa. The event includes pizza, refreshments and each child can decorate their own sugar cookie, make a craft, play some games, and visit with Santa. Kick off the holiday season with us!!!
Children 2-12 - $12R/$16NR
Adults 12+ $5R/$7NR
Pre-Registration required by 12/2 or when event reaches capacity.

Santa’s Mailbox


December 5 deadline

Where: Walker Park Recreation Center

Cost: Free

Tis’ the season! Write your letters to Santa and we will deliver them to the North Pole! Beginning November 24th Santa’s Mailbox will be on display at the Walker Park Rec Center. Santa will personally write back to each child who writes him a letter, provided all letters are received by December 5th at 5pm. (It takes a while to get them to the North Pole) Santa can only send letters to children who include the following: a self-addressed stamped envelope with the child’s full name, address, city and zip code and of course their letter and wish list.
All letters must be received by December 5th.

Family Gingerbread House Decorating

Bring the whole family to enjoy hot cocoa and cookies while having fun decorating your own unique full-size gingerbread house. We will provide all the supplies for decorating. Take your completed gingerbread house home and put it on display for the holiday season. Each registration fee includes one gingerbread house and up to 4 people. Add a guest to decorate the same house for $5.
Pre-registration required by December 6th.
